A MAN has appeared in court accused of threatening to rape a 12-year-old girl.
Daniel Hoy was charged with breaching a restraining order not to contact the girl’s mother.
But he is accused of calling her when she was at Brighton Marina and making the threat.
Hoy, 29, of no fixed address, appeared via video link at Brighton Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
He denied the charge.
Martina Sherlock, prosecuting, said Hoy was accused of breaching a restraining order made in 2014.
The charge states that Hoy, without a reasonable excuse, contacted the woman by telephone and threatened to rape her daughter.
His trial has been set at Brighton Magistrates’ Court for April 15.
