AN ENTERPRISING student has taken to the internet to find employment.

Daniel Adams is a 17-year-old who is keen to get started in the world of work as he is about to become a father.

So he posted an advert on several Facebook community noticeboard pages asking for job opportunities in telephone sales.

And many were impressed by the young man’s initiative – he has been flooded with offers from hundreds of companies keen to snap him up.

The Bevendean resident has even been contacted by Virgin Atlantic Holidays and American Express.

Daniel said: “Teenagers get a bad time in the press.

“People see that there’s been stabbings and crime and you walk through the streets in Brighton and older people give you looks.

“But there are teenagers determined to get into work and be successful.

“I’m about to be a dad so I want to become successful and make my family proud.”

He has been with girlfriend Hani Challinor-Knight, also 17, for three and a half years.

Their baby is due on August 19.

Daniel hopes to be in full-time employment by the time his son, Kairo, is born.

He hopes an income will allow the family to be able to move out of Hani’s parents house, where the couple currently live.

Speaking about the pregnancy, the teenager said: “I couldn’t be happier.

“Because we’re young, people might say things to put us down. But I’ve been with her for three and a half years and I can see being with her for the rest of my life.

“I didn’t have the best or wealthiest upbringing, so I want to do well for them.

“So I’m not looking for a job, I’m looking for a career, somewhere to take me further.”

Daniel said his ideal position would be at an IT recruitment company but he was looking at all telephone sales roles.

He described himself as “bright, determined, reliable and always prepared to go the extra mile”, and said he had a CV “available on request”.

He has previous experience working as a volunteer for community group Knight Support, which supports rough sleepers by providing clothes, shoes and self-care items.

Daniel, who dropped out of school at 16, said: “Lots of people who leave school at a young age end up staying in and smoking and drinking.

“But that’s just not me, if I’m sitting inside I just feel like I should be working.

“I was a bit wary about posting [the advert] to Facebook as everyone could see it.

“You think people will laugh at you but everyone loved it and has given such great feedback. But actually I received such great feedback.”
