Live At Brighton Dome

Brighton Dome, Brighton, Friday, March 8

ONE of the city’s finest theatres turned into a celebration of International Women’s Day with an all-star female line up for Live At Brighton Dome.

Compere Felicity Ward came on stage and said this was the best bill in the country on the night – and she may well be right.

This was followed by her talking to two women in the front row about the joys on offer in Hastings and the best ways for straight men to pleasure women in the bedroom.

She then introduced Josie Long.

Her set revolved around the recent birth of her daughter.

She goes from giddy to aggressive as she talks about her experiences with her new child.

After a quick interval there was just time for Felicity to return and do a deep dive into the marriage of a couple in the front row.

American comic Sara Barron drew attention to her different accent as soon as she came on stage, vanquishing any hushed crowd whispers about the topic.

She then commended our fine nation for squashing her American positivity, within six years of being here.

Next up was character comic Lolly Adefope who shocked the crowd with her impression of a political correctness coach giving terrible advice on how to act

correctly around people from other countries.

Headline act Sara Pascoe got the biggest laughs of the night, as well she should having headlined this room on her solo tour.

She’s bubbly and

hops from topic to topic with ease.

Overall the night of comedy was solid but, as with many multi-person shows, you can’t help but think it would have been more enjoyable to see each of these comics do their own comedy hour, giving them more time to connect with the audience.
