George Ezra
Five stars
THE sun was shining in the Brighton Centre on Monday night. At different times George Ezra made me feel like I was chilling out at the Café Del Mar in Ibiza, on the shores of the Cote D’Azur, or more obviously, wandering through the Barri Gotic on the way to the beach in Barcelona, the name of the city and one of his typically dreamy songs.
The feelgood factor was ramped right up, not least thanks to what was an amazing coup for his tour in having Sigrid as support, her fabulous song Strangers putting everyone in the perfect mood for gorgeous George.
You get out of life what you put in and he proves that, the smile on his face beaming out across the sea of hands in the air. His band is amazing, a horn section which really adds to the party feel, all of them dancing around the stage.
Among the highlights for me were Pretty Shining People, the aforementioned Barcelona, Paradise and Sugarcoat.
By the time he asked us to join him for ‘one last party' for his closing song Shotgun, everyone was smiling and dancing as much as he was.
