A NEW pub has opened where diners can enjoy great views of a bustling harbour.

The New Port Arms was formerly the Pebbles On The Port in Lady Bee Marina in Southwick.

It has been transformed by the new owner and has now opened its doors for business.

Sharon Barr, 61, said she could not be happier with the location.

She said: “I used to run The Zone Bar in St James’s Street, Brighton.

“I closed it two years ago and I spent quite a while looking for a venue that is on a port.

“I travelled to places like Wales and Devon and was just about to give up when I found this place. I’ve always wanted to run a pub on a port.

“It has views of Shoreham’s working port and there are fishermen, yachts and boats coming in. The business is a welcome port of call for sailors and harbour visitors.

“It is family and dog-

friendly place. You can enjoy the sea views in the summer or winter. We are hiring for the summer months because it will be extremely busy.”

Ms Barr, who lives near Brighton Marina, said she has high hopes The New Port Arms will become a “real part of the Southwick community”.

She said: “Rents in Brighton are very expensive and more people are moving out of the city to places like Southwick because there is more space.

“The people of Southwick are among the friendliest I have ever met. Everyone I have had the pleasure of speaking with has made me feel so welcome to the community.

“The positive response we have had on social media has been incredible. The pub has a New England vibe and everyone is looking forward to seeing what we’ve done with the place. I can’t wait to welcome everyone.”
