POLITICAL leaders in Brighton and Hove have called for unity following the terror attacks at two mosques in New Zealand.
Fifty people were killed and at least 20 wounded in the mass shooting on Friday.
Now Brighton and Hove City Council leader Daniel Yates, who is also leader of the Labour group, Conservative group leader Tony Janio, Green group convenor Phélim Mac Cafferty and Warren Morgan, leader of the Independent group, have issued a joint statement.
They said: “We send our sincere condolences to the families of those who have lost their lives and those who have been injured.
“We repeat our commitment to unity.
“We stand together, strong in compassion with people from all faiths and backgrounds.
“Division and hatred drives people into the ranks of those trying to recruit support to their terror campaigns.
“We will not let this happen.”
