THIS time last year I thought parking in Stanmer Park could not get any worse, how wrong was I?

Last week the two car parks at the front of the park as you drive in were closed on different days so tree works could be done.

Notices were posted on both of the gates to let everyone know.

Despite this the car parks still had student cars in and the tree surgeons had to work around them.

Totally unacceptable as I am sure they would have been the first to complain if something had happened to their cars.

God help anyone trying to use the park for walking on those days as the rest of the car parks were over run with students and they were even parking all over the grass even though the signs say no parking.

The parking fine people must have had a field day.

Why have the Friends of Stanmer Park not got together to stop the student parking?

The car parks are for park users only with no overnight stays.

Some cars are there for days if not weeks.

The 20mph speed limit is a joke as no one sticks to it and there are more potholes than road.

I could not imagine having a wedding or special occasion at Stanmer House and trying to get there on the roads up to it.

The other serious problem is dog fouling.

A lot of people are not picking up after their dogs.

It is especially dangerous in the cow fields as dog faeces can cause illness in cows.

We saw dog walkers with five or six dogs who just let their dogs off the leash in the car park and then do not pick up any poo from any of them. There are plenty of poo bins about.

I hope the farmer is aware of these selfish people.

I have been a park regular since I was a baby 72 years ago.

Please somebody do something to save our beautiful park before it is ruined for ever.
