On this day 20 years ago The Argus went to Madeira Drive to check out some classic motorcycles at the Old Bike run. We also caught up with some ramblers who embarked on a walk that ended with them all having to climb a wall.

The Old Bike Run in Madeira Drive brought some amazing vehicles to the seafront.

Poor Duncan Pittaway couldn’t ride his 1901 Slinger over the line so had to push it.

Next is Arthur Jolley, 73, who brought his 1912 Rudge Multi to the Old Bike Run, all the way from Ireland

The weather may have been bad but that doesn’t stop the fans from attending the bike run

These next pictures from our archives have little in the way of captions but they seem to show ramblers had an issue with a wall blocking their entrance to a park.

We believe the walkers were somewhere on or near the Duke of Norfolk’s estate in Arundel.

Their plight obviously attracted some interest from a TV station.

With the entrance closed, walkers tried to scale the wall to get into a park
