A DRUNK YOB has been jailed after an “outrageous” attack on a policeman.
Edward Elsden-Smith was acting aggressively and threatening people in Broadwater Street West in Worthing in February.
Witnesses saw him kick a parked car and break off the wing mirror, then approached a police car himself.
The officers went to arrest the 22-year-old for criminal damage, but Elsden-Smith then launched an attack and punched one PC in the face, knocking him to the floor.
Footage was captured on a police body-worn camera.
The thug admitted assaulting an emergency worker, criminal damage, breaching a community order, and breaching a suspended sentence when he appeared at Worthing Magistrates’ Court.
The suspended sentence was for headbutting a police officer and assaulting two other officers in Worthing in May last year.

Detective Sergeant Kieran McDonald said: "Elsden-Smith's behaviour and actions were outrageous and violent towards the officer who was trying to protect the public.
“Our officers and staff find themselves in a wide variety of often unpredictable and fast moving situations.
No emergency worker should be assaulted while doing their job but this is what happened to this PC in #Worthing. It was all captured on body-worn video.
