AN AMBULANCE station was evacuated after a gas leak.
Two fire engines from Worthing were called to Worthing Ambulance Station in Yeoman Road, Durrington, at 11.08am today.
Building contractors, who have been doing renovation works at the station, reported the leak to West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service.
A fire service spokesman said: "The premises was evacuated, and on arrival, crews worked to ventilate the area.
"A safety brief was given to contractors at the scene, and we remained at the scene while awaiting the arrival of the gas board. We left at 12.08pm."
A South East Coast Ambulance Service (Secamb) spokesman said: “The station was evacuated as a precaution.
“There are no reports of injuries. While the incident was being managed, we continued to respond to patients in the area as normal.
“The station is currently undergoing some building work. Southern Gas Network made the scene safe and we are back at the building now."
