A WOMAN was pulled from the sea after a large-scale rescue mission involving a helicopter last night.
The woman has been detained under the Mental Health Act and taken to hospital following the incident near Worthing Pier at 11.50pm.
Sussex Police, coastguard and RNLI crews were involved in the effort.
A Sussex Police spokes man said: "A woman was pulled out of the water by coastguard near Worthing Pier at 11.50pm on Wednesday April 3.
"She was detained under 136 of the Mental Health Act and taken to hospital."
