EUROPE’S largest radio company has put its Sussex base up for sale.

Global has put its Portslade headquarters on the market for £1.1 million.

The commercial property at Radio House in Franklin Road, is currently being advertised on house hunting site Zoopla.

The site is described as: “Radio studios and former offices over ground and first floors.

“Extensive surface car parking, 18 spaces.

“Modern internal specification.”

Its brochure says the building would be of interest to “owner occupiers, investors and

developers”. It also says there are “opportunities to intensify on site subject to normal town planning constraints.”

The site is currently home to Heart Sussex, formerly known as Southern FM.

Now this radio station will be merged with Capital Brighton, which has also been broadcasting from the building since it replaced Juice FM in September. The newly created station will be moved to a site in Fareham, near Southampton.

This is part of a move by Global which will see 14 of its breakfast shows replaced with one that will be broadcast from London, starting tomorrow.

Ashley Tabor, founder and executive president of Global, said this would help it compete with BBC Radio 1 and 2. He said Global was “excited to combine the best national talent with our unique ability to include great local content”.
