A PAIR of burglars used a stolen Porsche Cayman to target 40 stockbroker belt homes in a three-month long £1 million crime spree.

Jordan Simon Newell, 23, and Danny Brazil, 20, targeted expensive rural houses in Surrey and West Sussex during the run up to Christmas.

The pair first struck when they stole jewellery, watches and 11 shot guns from a house in Tilford in October last year.

Eight days later they stole £93,285 worth of jewellery and watches and an £48,000 Audi A5 from a house in Farnham.

Three days later they struck in Petworth and then on November 24 raided a house in Hindhead, stealing jewellery, personal photos and a Porsche Cayman.

Newell and Brazil, both from Godalming, Surrey, used ladders to climb from roofs of sheds or garages into the top floor windows of houses in the middle of the night.

But Newell was caught last December after a police patrol spotted the stolen Porsche used in several of the break-ins.

As officers waited for a tow truck Newell drove up to the Porsche in his Mercedes before he clocked the police car.

He sped off at speed and after a chase lasting a few minutes pulled over.

In his boot were two crowbars, a sledgehammer and a long-handled axe.

On his phone officers found texts between between him and Brazil which confirmed they were accomplices in the series of burglaries.

Brazil was arrested in January after officers searched his van and found a balaclava, gloves and a large amount of stolen property which had been stolen from the burglaries The pair were charged with the four burglaries and two car thefts and admitted to 40 more offences which were taken into consideration at sentencing.

The pair also told officers where several firearms taken during a burglary were hidden and these were then recovered.

Newell pleaded guilty to 45 offences and at Guildford Crown Cour was jailed for 56 months while Brazil who admitted 46 offences was sentenced to four years.

Surrey Police’s Detective Constable Daniel Byrne said: “This was a complex investigation due to the nature of the burglaries. The team worked tirelessly to piece together clues.”
