A WOMAN was pulled from from the water last night.
Rescue services were called to Eastbourne pier to help with a search for a woman spotted in the water at about 9.30pm.
They were successfully pulled out of the sea and handed into the care of the South East Coast Ambulance Service.
Eastbourne and Birling Gap Coastguard Rescue Teams, Eastbourne RNLI services and all weather Lifeboats and a Coastguard rescue helicopter from Lydd assisted with the rescue mission.
Sussex Police were also in attendance.
An HM coastguard spokeswoman said: "At 9.30pm last night HM Coastguard received a call reporting someone in the water at Eastbourne Pier.
"HM Coastguard coordinated a search of the area involving Eastbourne and Birling Gap Coastguard Rescue Teams, Eastbourne RNLI inshore and all weather Lifeboats and a Coastguard rescue helicopter from Lydd with Sussex Police and a police helicopter also on scene helping with the search.
"The person was found and handed into the care of South East Ambulance Service."
A police spokeswoman said: "Sussex Police alongside Coastguards attended Royal Parade, Eastbourne on Tuesday evening after receiving a report at 9.09pm for concerns for a woman.
"The woman was located and handed into the care of the ambulance service."
