CAMPAIGNERS are “gutted” their clean-up has been cancelled amid health and safety concerns – again.
A team of dedicated volunteers was due to scrub Brighton’s Madeira Terrace today as part of the Keep Britain Tidy initiative.
But Jax Atkins, from the Save Madeira Terrace campaign, along with other volunteers were told they were not allowed following an inspection of the terraces on Brighton seafront.
Their previous clean-up on March 9 was cancelled so council officials could conduct an annual safety check into the terrace.
The results of that inspection, asked for by the volunteers, have not been provided.
Jax Atkins said: “We are extremely disappointed.
“We need to see what the problem is and address that together with the council.”
