A PAIR of running fanatics made history yesterday – by becoming the first couple to get married during the Brighton Marathon.
Marc Bennett and Louise Winter tied the knot at the bandstand on Brighton seafront – 25 miles into the race.
They then ran the last mile as husband and wife.
Asked if it was the wedding she had always dreamed of, Louise said: “I wouldn’t change it for the world.”
Wedding guests wore formal attire, but the happy couple exchanged their vows in running gear.
Afterwards an Elvis impersonator performed the King’s hit song Burning Love.
Father of the bride David Winter, 60, praised the atmosphere in the city.
“It’s a wonderful feeling,” he said. “Everybody’s so cheerful and positive.
“It’s Brighton at its best.”
Marc proposed to Louise at the bandstand during last year’s marathon.
