A MAN was arrested today for possessing a long-barrelled gun.
Armed officers responded to reports of a 55-year-old with a firearm outside and inside a property in Gratwicke Road, Worthing.
Witnesses told officers that shots had been heard.
Police cordoned off Richmond Road and Gratwicke Road to carry out the operation.
A Sussex Police spokesman said: “The man was safely arrested without incident. Officers seized a long-barrelled BB gun.
“He is currently in custody for interview and further enquiries.
“There were no reports of violence or injury during the arrest.
“There is currently nothing to suggest that shots had been aimed at anyone.”
The incident happened at about 1.45pm.
