A WORLD record-holding rap singer clocked up a new record when he was convicted for speeding.

Ocean Wisdom went into the record books when he managed to average 4.45 words every second, beating hip-hop star Eminem’s record of 4.31 words per second.

But the 25-year-old rapper from Brighton now has a criminal record – for doing 36mph in a 30mph zone.

Wisdom wore matching black jacket and trousers, black T-shirt and black trainers and a man bag when he appeared at Crawley Magistrates’ Court.

He strode out of the court clutching a bottle of Highland Spring water after being handed a fine.

Prosecutors said he was clocked over the speed limit on the A259 Kingsway in Hove while driving his BMW in April last year.

But perhaps he is losing his speedy touch, as he was 20 minutes late for his court hearing, and he recently lost the world record for fast rapping to Harry Shotta.

Shotta reached a speed of 4.79 words per second on his single Animal.

Wisdom, now of Deptford, south east London, claims to have spent years “perfecting his craft”, and had kept quiet even when he lived in Brighton until he exploded on to the hip-hop music scene following a studio recording session.

According to his website, his debut single Walkin’ was recorded in one take, with no hook or ad-libs.

The website states that it was with “just raw, unfiltered energy and originality this track kickstarted his meteoric rise”.

He released his debut album Chaos 93 in 2016 and was described as “the future of UK hip-hop” in reviews.

In his 2018 album Wizville, Wisdom worked alongside Method Man, Roots Manuva and Dizzee Rascal, who are renowned in the hip-hop musical circles and pop charts.

Wisdom has since performed to sell-out crowds of thousands, and is set to perform at festivals in July and August this year.

Chief magistrate Sandie Moore ordered him to pay a £346 fine and £119 court costs.

Three points were added to Wisdom’s driving licence.
