A TOWN’S movers were left shaken AND stirred by a James Bond-style casino night.

Haywards Heath Town Hall was converted into a scene more familiar to Monte Carlo.

Mayor James Knight hosted the evening with help from Harlequin Fun Casino.

Funds went to the Dame Vera Lynn Charity, which helps children and families in the South East with cerebral palsy and other motor learning impairments.

Entertainment was provided by the Brighton jazz duo Melissa and Reece (Melissa Paice and Reece Oliver), along with magician Adam Smith, and the Alter Ego Band. Food was provided by Baan Thai2.

Cllr Knight said: “This was a wonderful evening for Haywards Heath and I am delighted that through the generosity of the people. We were able to raise a fantastic amount of money for charity.

“The Dame Vera Lynn Charity is so dear to my heart because of the amazing work it does to support children and their families locally and it has been my honour to support them throughout my term as Mayor.”

Ian Hardy from law firm Gray Hooper Holt won the top prize, while Burgess Hill Mayor Chris Cherry won second prize.
