COASTGUARDS searched land and sea after reports of a hang glider bailing into the sea.
From 8pm on Saturday, teams from Newhaven and Birling Gap Coastguards as well as helicopter rescue searched into the night after two reports of the missing person on the hang glider.
It was reported the person ditched the glider into the sea off the Rushy Hill Caravan Park between Newhaven & Peacehaven.
A spokesman for Newhaven Coastguard said: “An under cliff foot search was made from the east end of the Promenade at Peacehaven to West Beach Newhaven by Coastguard teams, while an extensive sea and shoreline search was carried out by the Helicopter and Lifeboat.
“Nothing untoward was found and search teams stood down.”
Anyone who sees overdue Hang gliders or similar aircraft should call the HM Coastguard control room on 02392 552100
