YOU might have seen them on the prowl, now see them on a towel.

Brighton’s most famous and beloved cats have been honoured with a tea towel featuring drawings of their faces

They range from purr-vert Basil, the infamous cat burglar behind a number of disappearing underwear incidents in Hanover, to Bailey, the pub landlord with serious cat-attitude.

The towel is a real who’s who of the city’s cat scene.

Lucy Clifford, from Moggy Meows Cat Sitting, is behind the project.

The Kemp Town resident said: “I basically dedicate my life to cats.

“I’m around them all day every day, feeding people’s cats when they go on holiday.

“And quite a few of them are on the tea towel.”

Ms Clifford created the towel to raise money for the charity Lost Cats Brighton.

Owners were invited to draw their cats – or have a friend more artistically talented to draw the pet for them – and send the design in.

More than 100 house cats, outdoor cats, and even pub cats made the final edition.

Some familiar felines include Betty from The Office pub in Sydney Street, Lebowski from the Hand In Hand pub in Upper St James’s Street and Bailey from the Heart and Hand in North Road.

Also making the list is three-year-old moggy Basil.

The undie-cover thief left his owner red-faced when The Argus revealed he was swiping knickers from neighbours’ washings lines.

Ms Clifford, who is selling the towels for £7, said: “Lots of people were really keen to get their cat on it.

“The drawings are all lovely, they’re all such unique characters and seeing them all in their different styles is a lovely thing.

“At the moment we have made £2,000 in pre-sales alone.”

The towels will be available in the aforementioned pubs from April 30.

You will also be able to pick them up from Ohsoswedish shop next to the Palace Pier and also The Dover Castle pub in Hanover.

The towels are part of a month-long fundraising campaign in aid of the Brighton-based cat charity.

The campaign launches at 7pm on April 30 with a cat-themed quiz at 8pm.

The pub will be hosting a month-long fundraiser with portraits of the city’s cats up for sale.
