A THIEF admitted stealing more than £1,000 worth of clothes and handbags.

Diana Hughes took the goods from shops including TK Maxx, Cos, Collectif, and All Saints in Brighton last month.

In court, the serial shoplifter admitted taking a DKNY handbag worth £199 from TK Maxx, and a £99 Cos handbag on the same day.

Hughes also stole four items of clothing from Collectif worth £160, and £654 worth of clothes from All Saints.

The 37-year-old, of Lower Rock Gardens, Brighton, admitted four theft charges.

She also admitted failing to attend three supervision appointments following her release from prison in March.

Magistrate Ian Stewart ordered her to pay a £110 fine. She also has to pay a £30 victim surcharge and £85 court costs. No action was taken on the breach of her supervision requirements, and no separate penalty for three of the theft charges.
