A POPULAR TV figure will be the special guest at a theatre show.

Pudsey, the large yellow bear that is synonymous with Children In Need, will be in attendance at a series of musical variety shows in Southwick.

The Believed To Be Seen show will take place at The Barn Theatre from May 15 to 18.

Money raised from the performances will be donated to Children In Need.

The show is being produced by theatre company Wings, which has been running events in West Sussex since 2005.

And the team says it is delighted to have the legendary yellow bear joining them for this year’s performances.

Jenny Miller of Wings Productions said: “Having the real Pudsey joining us makes a massive difference.

“As such a well-known symbol for the charity, it would only be right to have him there.

“We are grateful to the BBC for allowing him to join us for our third show running.

“He is so popular with our youngest members of the audience and it provides something slightly different to any other show in the Brighton area.”

These variety performances take place every two years and the team at Wings says there is always something different on offer.

Jenny said: “There is always new and fresh material to choose from as well as looking back to the earlier musicals to reproduce and rework some of the classics.

“We also choose to do revue shows because it allows us to please the whole audience at some point throughout the evening.

“Younger children will enjoy some of the Disney numbers we perform, older members

of the audience will enjoy the Fifties and Sixties material and

everyone in between those age groups.

“There is a big age range in our cast. The youngest is 17 and the eldest is 62.

“It is amazing and every single person has something to bring to the production on and off stage.”

Wings was set up my Sussex resident Des Young, who in 2010 passed the baton of running the company to some of its founding cast members.

Tickets for the Wings Believed To Be Seen show cost £12 for adults or £5 for under fives.
