THE A259 has now re-opened after a bomb squad were called to a suspected grenade in a residential home.
A family called emergency services saying they found the device in their home near Lansdowne Road in Littlehampton at about 9.30 this morning.
Police cordoned off the area and part of the A259 has closed while they wait for the bomb squad to arrive.
After about four hours of investigations the road has now re-opened.
A police spokesman at the time of the incident said: “A family have discovered what they believe to be an old grenade.
“As a precaution there has been a cordon put in place while we wait for the Explosive Ordnance Disposal to turn up.
“We cannot confirm as of yet whether or not it is active."
