ALBION fans have taken to social media to say farewell to Chris Hughton.

It comes after Brighton and Hove Albion announced yesterday that they had called time on Hughton – ending his four-and-a-half year spell in charge at the Amex.

The decision came the day after the Seagulls lost 4-1 to Manchester City on the final day of the season, meaning City won the Premier League title.

The season ended with Albion in 17th place, two points clear of Cardiff City who cemented their place in the final relegation spot after a 3-1 loss to Crystal Palace last weekend.

A statement from Albion chairman Tony Bloom said: “Undoubtedly, this has been one of the most difficult decisions I have had to make as chairman of Brighton and Hove Albion, but ultimately one I have made due to how we struggled in the second half of the season.”

It was a tough end to the campaign for Albion, who won just three games in 23 – a contributing factor to their battle against relegation.

And with the departure of Hughton, fans took to social media to voice their opinions.

The Amex North East Corner said: “Chris Hughton, thank you for everything you have done for @OfficialBHAFC.

“You have been one of, if not the best manager we have ever had. Wish you all the best for the future.”

Bradley Stratton said: “Wow. Did not expect to see that headline this morning.

“Chris will always be held in high regard for what he did in his time here. Thank you for everything.”

The search has now begun to find a successor to Hughton.

Swansea boss Graham Potter is the favourite for the job.

He is among names such as David Wagner, Phil Neville and Mikel Arteta all being linked with the role.
