RESIDENTS have mocked a road repair which has made a 20mph sign look like a crime-fighting comic book character.
The patched-up section of Chesham Road, Brighton (pictured) bears a striking resemblance to Marvel action hero Iron Man.
Resident Spencer Parker, 50, could not believe his eyes when he saw the Avengers character’s portrait scrawled across the street.
He said: “My reaction was sheer disbelief, and to laugh at the workmanship of the line painting.
“My friend and I both agreed that nursery school children could do better.”
He posted the image on social media where it received a similar response.
One person said: “Doesn’t anyone take pride in the work they do?
“This is shameful.”
Another added: “Someone needs firing here.”
Avengers: Endgame smashed box office records after its release on April 25, becoming the second highest-grossing film of all time.
A Brighton and Hove City Council spokesman said: "This repair was carried out by Southern Water.
"As soon as we were alerted, we contacted the utility company who said they would carry out further repairs.”
