PARTS of a busy road have had to close after an accident involving a motorbike left one person in hospital.
The crash involving a car and a motorbike happened on the A27 Westbound at A270 Lewes Road (Stanmer Park) around 8.15 this morning.
A South East Coast Ambulance Service spokesman said the motorcyclist was treated at the scene and has been taken to Royal Sussex Hospital in Brighton.
Traffic is queuing back to Ashcombe roundabout.
Police are currently directing traffic onto the A270 Lewes Road.
A police spokesman said: "Traffic is jammed at the moment due to a collision involving a motorbike.
"The A27 Westbound is closed and police are sending traffic onto the A270 Lewes Road."
An AA spokesman said: "Road blocked and queueing traffic for two miles due to accident, motorcycle involved on A27 Westbound at A270 Lewes Road (Stanmer Park).
"Congestion to Ashcombe roundabout.
"Police are directing traffic onto the A270 Lewes Road."
