FIREFIGHTERS were rushed off their feet during an eventful evening.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue crews were called to a house in Lewes Road, Brighton, at 5.20pm on Monday after a dog jumped out the window.
Fortunately the peppy pet did not fall too far as it landed on a roof extension. It was rescued by firefighters who used a ladder to retrieve the clumsy canine.
Less than an hour later firefighters rushed to a bonfire in Eastbourne which had spread to a garden fence.
But they were able to extinguish this quickly using a hose.
Another two call-outs that evening were due to alarms being set off by “overheated food”.
The first incident happened at 7.30pm in Court Road, Lewes, while a second alarm was triggered at 10.10pm in Vallance Gardens, Hove.
The work continued into the early hours of the following morning. At 5.04am Roedean firefighters were sent to a crash in Dukes Mound, Brighton.
Then, at 6.46am Roedean crews attended Queens Park, also in Brighton, where they extinguished a park bench which was on fire.
Throughout the evening, crews also rescued a person from a lift at a property in Orchard Way, East Grinstead, and released another person who was locked inside their house in Egremont Place, Brighton.
