A FAMILY run sex shop’s website crashed after ten minutes of a show airing about the lives of the owners.

The family behind Lust, in Gardner Street, Brighton, and Taboo, in Surrey Street, Brighton, and Blatchington Road, Hove, featured on A Very British Sex Shop on Channel 4 on Monday night.

Such was the popularity of the programme that the websites for both Lust and Taboo crashed after just ten minutes of air time.

The shops were founded by Tim Richardson.

The hour-long show followed the family – Tim, his son Taylor, 23, daughter Kizzy, 19, partner Calandra and ex-wife Nancy.

Stand-out moments from the programme included Tim showing his family new sex toys for the store.

These included a “milking machine” and a “f****** machine”.

The show also followed Tim’s attempts to convince his son to take over the “erotic empire” and asking his daughter to model latex outfits for an adult fashion show.

The family, who live in Brighton, watched the show together and said it was an enjoyable experience.

Calandra said: “Until you’ve seen the finished piece you never know how everyone is going to come across.

“But it was a very accurate portrayal of our lives.

“We made a pact to not look at Twitter so naturally we spend the whole time on there.

“I replied to 150 tweets.”

She said the main concern was making sure their children were comfortable with what was shown.

In the programme, as Nancy is pitching sex toy ideas for Valentine’s Day, Taylor says: “It’s every young guy’s worst nightmare to hear their mum talk about sex toys.”

But Calandra said the children were happy with how the show came across, even if it may have been “cringey”.

Calandra said there was so much unused footage that the family would love to have a series or at least another episode.

As well as following the lives of the family, the show also focussed on a man called Scott, who splashed out a whopping £1,200 on a lifelike sex doll, left.

Scott went into the store and customised his doll, who he called Julietta, with Tim – giving her brown eyes, C cup breasts.

Tim says the dolls cost so much because they are “very realistic”.

After making his purchase Scott said: “There was a film by John Hughes called Weird Science, where these two nerds couldn’t get girlfriends.

“So they had an idea of building a girlfriend on their computer, and she came to life.

“And that’s exactly what I’ve just done, but for real.”

The show ends on a high as Kizzie and other models strut their stuff in the latex fashion show, as proud father Tim looks on.
