POLICE are investigating after a teenage girl reported being sexually assaulted in an alleyway.

The 13-year-old victim said she was approached by an unknown boy in Selsey.

She was walking in an alley between Manor Road and Manor Lane at 8.20am yesterday.

Officers say she is now receiving specialist support.

They have released a picture of a boy they wish to speak to in connection with the incident.

He was seen on a camera in Church Road at 7.30am, and is a skinny teenager with short brown or blond hair, wearing a blue tracksuit.

Detective Inspector Jon Robertson said: “This is a very rare incident for the area and not part of a series or wider pattern.

“There is an extra police presence in the area and anyone with concerns can speak to our officers.

“We are also grateful to local people, who are already giving us great help with our investigation.”

Anyone who recognises the boy, believed to be aged between 16 or 17, or who has information is asked to contact the police online or on 101, quoting Operation Westhead.
