A retired petrol industry scientist is due to appear in court charged with the murder of a man who died more than 13 years after he was assaulted.
Alexander Lloyd was 23 years old when he was attacked in Cambridge in 2003, suffering irreversible brain damage and paralysis.
He died in 2017.
Cambridgeshire Police said 79-year-old Bakri Siraj-Eldin is due to appear at Cambridge Magistrates’ Court on Thursday charged with the murder of Mr Lloyd.
Siraj-Eldin, of Mornington Crescent, Hove, East Sussex, was convicted in 2004 of wounding Mr Lloyd with intent and served time in prison for the offence, the force said.
