THE parade for Brighton Pride will be taking a new route this year.

Previously the floats  started at Hove Lawns, went along the seafront to West Street and turned left up there, then down North Street.

It then passed the Old Steine and paraded up Beaconsfield Road and ended in Preston Park.

This year, the parade will begin as usual at 11am on Saturday, August 3,  at Hove Lawns.

The floats will travel along King’s Road and turn left left up West Street.

But it will then go past the Clock Tower and  up Queen’s Road, turning right down North Road.

At the bottom of North Road the parade will turn left, then go up Gloucester Place and London Road before finishing as usual in Preston Park.

The reason for the route change this year is because Brighton and Hove City Council is implementing a new road layout around Victoria Gardens as part of a long term plan to improve the main route into the city.

The council plans and road closures to traffic mean that the route past the Royal Pavilion is not available

Brighton and Hove Pride is the UK’s biggest Pride Festival operated by Brighton Pride CIC, a not for profit community interest company.

Kylie Minogue will headline this year’s spectacle.

The Australian pop legend will perform in Preston Park on Saturday evening.
