THIS week The Argus Camera Club brings us some beautiful snapshots of Sussex’s natural beauty... as well as a nosy seagull.

Photographers in our county are blessed with wonderful views, whether it is by the seaside or in the rolling South Downs. Many thanks to our camera club members who have shown us the best and most beautiful parts of Sussex’s wild side.

Janet Levett snapped a fantastic action shot of a blackbird enjoying a bath, and Sylvia Lemoniates did a fantastic job of photographing a stunning blue tit in Warnham Nature Reserve near Horsham.

A beautiful baby sparrow was carefully captured by Sue Barnett, while Jo Dowson caught an intrusive seagull on camera. The Argus Camera Club picked the theme of nature and wildlife for a joint May and June competition to celebrate the renowned Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition which is on loan to Brighton Museum and Art Gallery from the Natural History Museum in London. It runs until September 8, so why not go along for some inspiration?

General admission is £6 for adults and £3.50 for children aged five to 18. Brighton and Hove residents get in for £4 and it’s free for accompanying children.

Our competition is run in partnership with Brighton Museum and our winner will get a £50 prize and two Brighton Explorer passes which give entry to the Royal Pavilion, the i360 and Sea Life Brighton.

Entries can be uploaded to the Argus Camera Club until the end of June and the winners will be chosen by staff from the museum and the Argus. There is an additional category for youngsters under 14 and the prize will be Explorer passes for a family of four and £50. Youngsters entering will need to have their pictures uploaded by someone old enough to use Facebook. They must be clearly marked as a young person’s entry. Join at facebook.com/groups/cameraclubargus.
