A woman was taken to a place of safety after she was found on railway tracks.
Police were called to Haywards Heath train station at 11.11am to reports of a “casualty on the tracks”.
A British Transport Police spokesman said: “The incident was mental health related and the person has now been moved to a place of safety.
“We do not believe she is injured.”
Trains between Brighton and Gatwick were subjected to delays of up to 40 minutes.
Ouse Valley and Ringmer councillor, Sean MacLeod, said: “She is okay and talking I believe.
“I believe she fell under the train.
“We was on train next to it as it happened.
“It was very sad to watch.
