A 23-YEAR-MAN has been arrested on the suspicion of the rape of a woman in Brighton’s Pavilion Gardens. 

Detectives investigating the rape of the woman, aged in her 20s, last Saturday, wish to thank members of the public who have contacted police with information after an appeal for information was made in The Argus.

As a result a 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of rape. 

He was arrested today and is currently in police custody awaiting interview.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: "Officers are still keen to hear from anyone who may have relevant information concerning this incident but who have not yet come forward.

"They are asked to contact police online or phone 101, quoting Operation Cobalt.
