ON THURSDAY, the council's Tourism, Development and Culture committee will meet to discuss the future of Hollingbury Park and Waterhall Golf Courses.
The acknowledgement that golf is in decline and that one or both sites could be put to other uses is welcome. However, the agenda indicates that one of the alternative uses is "Camping/Glamping/Caravanning".
In last month's local elections, candidates from the Labour, Green and Conservative parties refused to take seriously the Liberal Democrat proposal of building homes for the local community at Hollingbury.
They now look likely to decide the site is suitable for glamping while refusing to even explore the idea of using it for council housing.
Wake up, Brighton and Hove City Council. We have a housing crisis, not a glamping crisis.
