PEOPLE on the average wage saving £40 per week must save up for nearly 24 years to get a £49,500 deposit for a home.
The average salary for Brighton is £25, 564.
When saving up £40 a week for a deposit on a property in the city, it would take an average earner 23.8 years, research by the UNISON union shows. The figure of £40 would equate to 10 per cent of their take home pay - minus tax.
