THE AIR ambulance landed on a cricket field to help a patient in a block of flats.

The helicopter landed at Eastbourne College after the callout shortly before 11am.

Firefighters were also called to the scene in nearby Blackwater Road, along with the ambulance service.

The Aerial Ladder Platform (ALP) was used to reach the patient who was on the fifth floor out of six at the flats.

A patient was taken down the ladder by the fire crews.

It is understood that the patient did not need to be airlifted. It is not known if the patient needed hospital treatment.

A fire service spokesman said: “Our team parked up in Hardwick Road and assisted the ambulance service. We did send the ALP to assist in removing the casualty from the flats.”

The ambulance service said it was a call to a private address.
