Next Friday, June 28, is National Cream Tea Day and being British we all know how important that is. Jamie Walker has gone in search of some of the best afternoon teas in Brighton so you can celebrate with stunning scones and classic cakes – all washed down with a nice cup of tea.

Let us know your favourite spot in the city.

Metrodeco

Upper St James’s Street, Brighton

Four and a half stars (489 reviews)

The motto at Metrodeco is “a storm in a 1930s tea cup” a phrase that perfectly encapsulates what the cafe is about.

There is all the glamour of a bygone era of living mixed with some great tea and cakes.

The cafe is known for its afternoon teas –both regular and vegan options are available – and claims to be right up your street if you are one of “today’s tea lovers”.

Danny W on TripAdvisor said: “Hands down the best coffee I’ve ever had and an irresistible display of cake.”

The Salt Room

King’s Road, Brighton

Four stars (1,592 reviews)

The Salt Room is best known around the city for its incredible seafood.

But what you may not know is that the restaurant also serves up a cracking afternoon tea.

With stunning views of the seafront, you couldn’t ask for a better combination than the Sussex sunshine and a scone.

Talk Of Tea

Spring Street, Brighton

Four and a half stars (134 reviews)

With a name like Talk Of Tea you had best make sure the product you serve is up to scratch and at this establishment it definitely is.

It’s a quaint tea room in the centre of Brighton that is perfect if you prefer a laidback afternoon.
