I AM sure readers will be shocked and saddened by this story and the pictures that go with it, writes council leader Nancy Platts.
They show the reality of what is happening in our busiest public toilets and the problems we face in keeping them clean and safe for everyone.
It is not just the drug taking and the associated problems that go with it.
It’s also the sheer level of violence, reckless vandalism and terrifying threats to the attendants who are either permanently on-site or cover two or three toilets. I am determined to tackle this issue to ensure the toilets are clean and safe for everyone to use.
The first step is bringing in a specialist security firm who will make daily, frequent visits to the toilets that are being targeted by the drug takers and vandals.
They are prepared to take firm and decisive action against the culprits while liaising with the police.
