RECKLESS walkers have been spotted risking their lives by sitting on the edge of cliff tops.

Despite repeated warnings, visitors to cliffs such as Beachy Head and Seven Sisters are still seen dicing with death as they sit on the cliff edge above a 500ft drop.

Yaren Sabah Sahilli was out walking along the cliffs at Seven Sisters when she spotted several people sitting dangerously close to the cliff edge.

She took a photo of the reckless people and posted it online to warn others.

The image has led to a huge reaction online with people calling those photographed “morons” and “idiots.”

Facebook user Harry de Chien, who lives in Brighton, saw the photo and said: “A friend of mine was sitting on a cliff while hiking in Australia.

“The ground collapsed beneath him and he plummeted into the sea.

“He was clinically dead when they hauled him out of the water, but he was resuscitated.

“He suffered a broken back, and after years of rehab, is walking slowly again.

“When I see things like this I’m blown away by the stupidity.”

Another Brighton resident, Gerard Charnley, said the photo shows more than two people standing dangerously close to the edge of the cliff.

He added: “I would say there are a further ten or so people walking too close to the edge. It’s madness.

“I know there was a student who died at Beachy Head because she got too close and slipped, but one day there is going to be a cliff collapse that claims many lives.

“It’s just a matter of time.”

Earlier this year a man was pictured dangling his two boys near the crumbling cliffs at Birling Gap.

The man was pictured, close to a National Trust museum which describes how sections of the cliff are known to crack and fall on to the beach below at any moment.

In June 2017, South Korean student Hyewon Kim, fell to her death while having her picture taken at the beauty spot. She stumbled and fell over the edge as she jumped in the air for the photograph.
