A PROUD father has hit back after claims his daughter lied on Love Island.

A national newspaper quoted a source claiming to be a friend of the Hart family, from Worthing.

The mystery person claimed air hostess Amy Hart was lying when she told other contestants on the ITV2 dating show that she had never had a boyfriend.

The source claimed Amy, 26, who is coupled up with dancer Curtis Pritchard in the Spanish villa, has actually had four long-term boyfriends.

The source told The Mirror “the innocent Amy is all an act”, though the paper also quoted someone else rubbishing what they said.

Now Amy’s father Ian Hart has hit back at the claims that she lied.

The funeral director, who lives in Worthing, said: “It’s sad that people feel the need to contact tabloid papers with lies about Amy.

“Thankfully reporters check facts and realise it’s all rubbish and a phrase that springs to mind is ‘it is what it is’.

“I’ve been a funeral director for over 30 years and I can categorically say the person trying to sell this ‘story’ wouldn’t be a former or current colleague.

“Thankfully the way The Mirror have now reported the story, their ‘source’ won’t get any money for the story.

“We continue to be overwhelmed by the support Amy is receiving right across the nation.

“The positives far outweigh the negatives and that’s what we constantly remind ourselves as a family.”

This comes after the family revealed they had been receiving death threats by Love Island fans.

The show features a group of attractive 20-somethings who vie for each other’s affections in a bid to “couple up”.

The final will see one lucky couple to take home a £50,000 prize.

Amy and Curtis were the bookies’ favourites to win but have now slipped to second, behind Michael Griffiths and Amber Gill.

In response to the death threats, the family issued a statement on Amy’s Instagram page.

It read: “We would like to thank those who continue to support Amy and those who have sent kind messages through the whole Love Island experience, but especially over the last few trying days.

“Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, however the way some people are gunning for Amy is shocking and really upsetting for her friends and family and everyone who knows and loves her.”
