A POLICE helicopter chased a motorcyclist as they raced around central Brighton.
At about 4.15pm police received a report of dangerous driving in the city from the National Police Air Service (NPAS) helicopter.
The helicopter pursued the motorcyclist as they travelled westbound on the A27 towards Lancing, before returning eastbound on the same road.
A witness said: "I saw the helicopter circling over Palace Pier and the i360.
"Then it raced off towards Hove and I knew it had to be chasing something."
Throughout the pursuit, NPAS maintained sight of the vehicle and provided running commentary to Sussex Police to enable the force to use officers on the ground.
Police then used a Stop Stick, a piece of equipment which deflates tyres, to bring the motorcycle to a safe stop close to the junction with Hoe Court, Lancing. No one was hurt and the bike had minimal damage.
A 47-year-old man from Brighton was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop when required by police, dangerous driving and driving without a valid licence. He remains in custody at this stage.
