A POWER cut is affecting a large area of Newhaven.
UK Power Networks own and maintain electricity cables in South East England, the East of England and London.
A UK Power Networks spokesman apologised for the cut and said they predicted the power would return between midnight and 1am.
He said: "There is an unplanned power cut in Newhaven.
"We're sorry for any disruption this may be causing you.
"We estimate the power will be back on between 12am and 1am.
"We may be able to get some customers on sooner."
He also revealed the company had received four customer calls regarding the cut, which it was believed to be affecting 99 of its customers in the area.
The spokesman said: "The reason for this unplanned power cut is an underground electricity cable faulted on our high voltage network, causing an area wide power cut."
