POLICE seized drugs worth tens of thousands of pounds from a cannabis factory in a quiet residential street.

Two men were arrested when officers raided a property in the Elm Grove area of Brighton on Tuesday.

Police discovered "large scale cannabis production" at the house in Whippingham Road.

Plants with a street value of more than £34,000 were seized along with other drugs paraphernalia and cash.

Inside the house officers destroyed equipment used to grow the class-B drug.

Two men, both aged 57, were arrested for being concerned in the production of cannabis and later released under investigation.

Photos issued by the police show several large bags of cannabis.

They also show smashed lights and a broken ventilation system at the factory.

Chief Inspector Rachel Swinney said: "Our prevention enforcement officers in the city are continuing to disrupt drug production and supply in the city.

"This was a significant amount of cannabis which we have seized and prevented making its way onto the streets of Brighton and Hove.

"If you suspect drug dealing or have any information about suspected drug production, please let us know by calling 101 or report online."
