A PERVERT chased a woman in streets at night before exposing himself to her.

Michael Al Omran pursued a woman and tried to kiss her, then later pinned her against a wall and pleasured himself in Hove.

It left the woman “terrified” and suffering nightmares from the incident. Meanwhile, he also chased two other women around Portland Road on the same night.

One woman said she had to cross the road four times to escape being followed, while another took refuge in a shop and was “shaken” by the encounter.

It sparked a police alert at the time, and 34-year-old Al Omran was arrested soon after.

At Lewes Crown Court the sex pest was found guilty of sexual assault and exposure, and was jailed for one year.

It was revealed that Al Omran, of Carlisle Road, Hove, was previously found guilty of voyeurism when he repeatedly stared at a showering woman at a leisure centre in 2015.

Hugh Forgan, prosecuting, said the most recent incidents against three women took place in darkness near Portland Road and Bolsover Road in January.

CCTV showed Al Omran in pursuit of the women in the area.

Mr Forgan said: “He chased and ran after three women in the streets, and one was backed into a darkened street where the defendant knew there was no CCTV. The defendant backed her against a wall and while he tried to kiss his beard touched her. He masturbated himself and twice grabbed her arm as part of the detention. She was vulnerable and was against the wall.”

Al Omran sacked his defence barrister at an earlier hearing and represented himself.

He repeatedly interrupted the victim as she gave evidence during the trial. During his sentencing hearing he talked over Mr Forgan and Judge Janet Waddicor, and was taken down to the cells.

“I do not accept that happened at all,” he said. “All I did was talk to somebody. I lifted my jumper and gestured to my nether regions.

“Regards the other two ladies, all I did was speak to them. This is ridiculous man.”

Judge Waddicor heard Al Omran’s claims about his voyeurism conviction in 2015, where he said he did not know a woman was in the changing room.

But the judge pointed out that he had opened a door to the showers four times, and was put under a sexual offences order not to enter changing rooms following his conviction.

The judge told Al Omran that the jury had found him guilty of the offences.

Al Omran said: “Hand on my heart I never intended anyone to get hurt or cause anyone any harm. I’m not a violent person. I know in future I must not speak to anybody if it causes them alarm and distress.”

The judge said: “What makes this serious is your pursuit of her. She told you to leave her alone, she was obviously distressed, she was terrified and in tears.

“This episode may to you have been meaningless, but it has had an impact on her, she was shaken and is now frightened to walk down the street. You don’t strike me as physically aggressive, you were bizarrely polite to say ‘excuse me’. But these women were frightened by your behaviour.”

Al Omran was sent to prison, and was put under a new sexual harm prevention order for ten years.
