ONE person has been airlifted to hospital after a horror crash.

An image from the scene shows a Nissan which has left the road.

The car has a crumpled bonnet and the front of the vehicle is embedded in a bank of soil.

The crash happened late on Sunday evening.

Sussex Roads Police posted an update on the crash at about 5am today.

A spokesman said: "There has been a single vehicle road traffic collision on the A286 at Singleton, near Chichester.

"One person was left with serious injuries and has been airlifted to hospital."

A Sussex Police spokesman said: "A rear seat passenger was airlifted to hospital after a car left the road on the A286 at West Dean late on Sunday evening. 

"Emergency services were called to the scene just south of Singleton at 11.25pm where the blue Nissan Primera SVE had crashed into a ditch close to the junction with Town Lane. 

"A 31-year-old man from Brent, London, was airlifted to Southampton Hospital with a suspected broken pelvis, leg and internal injuries.

"The driver of the car, a 25-year-old man from Newham, London, was taken to St Richard's Hospital in Chichester for treatment to minor injuries and a second passenger, also from Brent, suffered minor injuries that did not require hospital treatment. 

"Anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have seen the Nissan in the area heading north from Chichester in the time leading up to it is asked to report online or call 101 quoting serial 1503 of 07/07."
