A HOTEL has won a national accolade for the way it treats its staff.

The Grand in Brighton picked up the Best Employer Award in The Caterer magazine’s honours.

The seafront hotel fended off competition from other top luxury venues such as Red Carnation Hotels and Firmdale Hotels.

The award is given to employers who “recognise and nurture their people to create a healthy, thriving business environment”.

The award marked The Grand as a desirable place to work – and said the proof was in the hotel’s retention record.

Up to one in ten staff have been there a decade or more and 70 per cent of employees have served more than a year.

Andrew Mosley, general manager at The Grand, said: “We’re delighted and extremely proud to have The Grand recognised for its positive working environment.

“We strongly encourage an entrepreneurial spirit among our employees to find the freedom and flexibility to express their ideas.

“It is their ideas and unrelenting dedication which make this historic institution on Brighton’s seafront such an exceptional place to visit.

“A happy and motivated team certainly allows us to provide an enriching experience for guests.”
