A MAN arrested after a stand-off with armed officers has been released on police bail.
On Saturday, armed police surrounded a house containing four children and two women after a man carrying a handgun broke in at about midnight.
Officers helped the occupants escape then tried to get the man to come
out of the house, but he refused.
At 3.48am the man came to the door but would still not co-operate with police, so one officer Tasered him while others swooped on him arrested him.
The weapon was later found to be an imitation.
A police spokesman said a man had been arrested “on suspicion of burglary, criminal damage, common assault and possessing an imitation firearm” after being taken to Worthing Hospital for a medical assessment.
The spokesman said: “After being interviewed he was released on police bail until August 4 while enquiries continue.”
