A MAN was stabbed in the neck an “unprovoked” pub attack.

The 47-year-old was in The Bugle in St Martin’s Street, off Lewes Road, Brighton on Thursday night.

He was stabbed in the neck with broken glass and had to be taken to hospital after the assault at 11.10pm.

Police believe three men were involved in the affray.

The initial attacker is believed to have been a slim man, 6ft tall in his late 40s with thinning brown hair with a topknot.

He was wearing a black tracksuit top and bottoms, T-shirt, and trainers, and may be called Dan.

Meanwhile the second man was a beer-bellied man in his 50s with grey hair, wearing shorts, a T-shirt and a tracksuit.

Finally, the third man was in his 20s with short brown hair and facial hair, who was wearing grey tracksuit bottoms and a high-visibility vest.

Police believe the suspects could be builders or workmen in a similar trade.

The force said the victim needed stitches when he was taken to The Royal Sussex County Hospital.

In a statement police said: “A man was wounded in the neck in an apparently unprovoked attack in a Brighton pub.

“The 47-year-old victim was socialising in The Bugle when he was punched and then stabbed in the neck with a broken glass.

“Two further suspects then joined in the affray that followed.”
